Please Plan to Give a Gift of Life on May 23rd
Our Prophet has asked us to take an active part to support our community and help our neighbors. As a result, our Stake President has asked us to give a gift of life by donating to the blood bank.

The San Bernardino/Riverside LifeStream Blood Bank is a non-profit organization who supplies the necessary blood for most all the hospitals in Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Therefore, volunteer blood donors are needed for surgery and trauma patients, transplant recipients, premature infants, cancer patients, etc. To meet emergency and ongoing patient needs, the LifeStream Blood Bank must receive at least 500 donations daily in order to support 175, 000 transfusions annually. Their ability to do this, without fail, depends upon your help.

One of these emergency and ongoing patients may be one of our ward members or one of your family members. For example, Brother George Cummings needed an emergency brain surgery in February, Brother Albert Field had open heart surgery in March, and Sister Becky Foster had hip surgery in April. We do not know who and when one of our family members may need your precious donation of a gift of life.

Our Ward donated an average of over 12 donations for each of the last five blood drives. The Yucaipa Fourth Ward averaged about 14 donations. However, the Yucaipa Stake averaged 7 donations per ward. The Stake President’s goal is to have at least 10 donations per ward.

By our members donating, our Stake becomes a LifeSteam “club”. Meaning, that all members in our Stake become a member of the Club. As a result, those of us who do not have insurance to cover a blood transfusion, the LifeStream Blood Bank will cover the cost of the blood.

LifeStream also has an “Academy of Giving” program. The Academy provides high school age students (15 and up) who show they care about others in their community and who generosity to participate in the life saving act of donating blood and community service with scholarships. The Academy of Giving is awarding 28 $3,000 scholarships to youth this year. See Brother Kent Mabey for information these scholarships or see details on line at academyofgiving.org.

I wish to thank the following individuals who stepped forward helped someone in need by giving a gift of life during the February blood drive: Bafffey Bentley, John Christensen, Landy Foster, Darrin and Rebecca Goodman, Kestler Heitritter, Lindsay Mabey, Correy Moore, James Nielson, Nods and Virginia Reynolds, Kathleen Riker, Ken Ross, Todd Sowell, Chris and Neilsie Tegel, Susan Troy, John Wells, David Woodland, and Aaron Woods. Several other members of the Ward went to donate but were unable to because of either being not at least 110 pounds or did not have sufficient time to stay and donate. To all of you I give my heart - thanks to for volunteering to give a gift of life to one in need.

May I also thank those who have donated previously. Please sign up and commit to donating Saturday, May 23rd. Bring your neighbors and friends. Thank you.

Something to think about

Satan's meeting (read even if you're busy)

Satan called a worldwide convention of demons.
In his opening address he said, "We can't keep Christians from going to church." "We can't keep them from reading their Bibles and knowing the truth." "We can't even keep them from forming an intimate relationship with their savior." "Once they gain that connection with Jesus, our power over them is broken."

"So let them go to their churches; let them have their covered dish dinners, but steal their time, so they don't have time to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ." "This is what I want you to do", said the devil:

"Distract them from gaining hold of their Savior and maintaining that vital connection throughout their day!" "How shall we do this?" his demons shouted.
"Keep them busy in the nonessentials of life and invent innumerable schemes to occupy their minds," he answered.

"Tempt them to spend, spend, spend, and borrow, borrow, borrow."

"Persuade the wives to go to work for long hours and the husbands to work 6-7 days each week, 10-12 hours a day, so they can afford their empty lifestyles."

"Keep them from spending time with their children." "As their families fragment, soon, their homes will offer no escape from the pressures of work!"

"Over-stimulate their minds so that they cannot hear that still, small voice." "Entice them to play the radio or cassette player whenever they drive." "To keep the TV, VCR, CDs and their PCs going constantly in their home and see to it that every store and restaurant in the world plays non-biblicalmusic constantly." "This will jam their minds and break that union with Christ."

"Fill the coffee tables with magazines and newspapers." "Pound their minds with the news 24 hours a day." "Invade their driving moments with billboards." "Flood their mail boxes with junk mail, mail order catalogs, sweepstakes, and every kind of newsletter and promotional offering free products , services and false hopes.""Keep skinny, beautiful models on the magazines and TV so their husbands will believe that outward beauty is what's important, and they'll become dissatisfied with their wives." "Keep the wives too tired to love their husbands at night." "Give them headaches too!" "If they don't give theirhusbands the love they need, they will begin to look elsewhere." "That willfragment their families quickly!"

"Give them Santa Claus to distract them from teaching their children the real meaning of Christmas." "Give them an Easter bunny so they won't talk about his resurrection and power over sin and death."

"Even in their recreation, let them be excessive." "Have them return from their recreation exhausted." "Keep them too busy to go out in nature and reflect on God's creation." "Send them to amusement parks, sporting events, plays, concerts, and movies instead." "Keep them busy, busy, busy!"

"And when they meet for spiritual fellowship, involve them in gossip and small talk so that they leave with troubled consciences."

"Crowd their lives with so many good causes they have no time to seek power from Jesus."
"Soon they will be working in their own strength, sacrificing their health and family for the good of the cause." "It will work!""It will work!

"It was quite a plan! The demons went eagerly to their assignments causing Christians everywhere to get more busy and more rushed, going here and there. Having little time for their God or their families. Having no time to tell others about the power of Jesus to change lives.

I guess the question is, has the devil been successful at his scheme? You be the judge! Does "busy" mean:
B-eing
U-nder
S-atan's
Y-oke?

Please pass this on, if you aren't too BUSY!

Mommy and Me Playgroup!

Dear Mommy and Me Ladies,
New Schedule!!!
We will have a park day every WEDNESDAY from 10-11am.
On the 1st Wednesday of every month, we will mix it up and meet at the park by the Kohls (in Seneca Springs- take 1 St. by Kohls, turn South on Seneca Springs Pkwy, park is on your left). It has swings and a large open grassy area for the kids to run around on.
Every 2nd-5th Wednesday we will stay at the Wildflower Park in Sundance. Moms, bring your own snacks and drinks as needed for your own children. While at the park, if we have a large enough groups (depending on the ages present), we can play little games together (ring around the rosey, Simon Says, red light/ green light, simple relays, duck duck goose). We can also just socialize while the kids play on the equipment and get their wiggles out.
Thank you all for your flexibility! If you have more ideas, keep them coming. As summer comes, and hopefully the Community Center by Sundance opens, we may be able to expand our activities.
FYI- I am pregnant and will have a C-Section May 12 (unless I go into labor sooner...). I will be out of commission for at least 6 weeks (till the end of June or so...). I hope that the play group will continue in my absence. Continue to check your emails and the new Relief Society Blog for any updates. Thanks!
Love,Robin Williams

Yucaipa Stake Temple Night

3/30/09

Brothers and Sisters of the Beaumont Ward;

We have received and you will find attached the Beaumont Ward Schedule and Sign-Up List for the Friday, May 8th Stake Temple Night. It is not often that our Stake has the opportunity to participate in Temple attendance in this manner. We will not meet as a Ward until April 12th.
Will you please review it and sign-up so that you will have to opportunity to participate and help fill the assignment.

Priesthood and Auxiliary Presidencies :
Will you please make these forms available to your members so that everyone will have an opportunity to participate. Some members do not attend a meeting where this list will be available to review and sigh-up. Will you please keep track of the forms for your group and give me the names so I can keep the Stake informed as they have requested. Also it would be well to consider and prepare for babysitting other than the youth as they will be participating. There probably are some ward members that could be called on to assist. Interviews and Youth Recommend’s need to be completed.

Ward Members:
Will you please e-mail me or call me to let me know what you will be able to do and when you will be attending.
If you are not a current recommend holder there is still time to make it current.
Please take this opportunity to get Family File Temple work ready to take and do. There are 6 Family History Consultants in our Ward who will be happy to help you do this. Their names and information is in the Ward News Letter each month.

If you have any questions please contact me.
See you at the Temple May 8th.
Thank you.
John Christensen
