Relief Society Lesson 5/2/10

"Single Working Mom? & Education"

.Whether you are a single working mom, divorced, widowed or married, a good educational foundation can raise your standard of living, your self -esteem, and your children's expectations for themselves. Most universities now recognize and try to address the special needs of "nontraditional" students by adapting curriculum, schedules, scholarships, and services. There are many more options in obtaining an education today. Explore the opportunities of Vocational Training, Internet Programs, Community Colleges and Universities.

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf stated:

For members of the Church, education is not merely a good idea--it's a commandment. We are to learn "of things both in heaven and in the earth, and under the earth; things which have been, thins which are, things which must shortly come to pass; things which are at home, things which are abroad." If formal education is not available, do not all that to prevent you from acquiring all the knowledge you can. Under such circumstances, the best books, in a sense can become your "university"--a class room that is always open and admits all who apply.
